MICAD IPR Property Information System

About the University property database, which contains a full record, including drawings of all University space

What is MICAD IPR?

MICAD Intranet Property Register (IPR) is the University’s property information system. The system connects building floor plans to room records containing information such as location, area, use, department and name of occupant. The database currently holds records for over 21,000 individual spaces and this information is maintained by the Property Data Management Officer.

In addition to the space records, the system is used to store a wide range of other location-dependent property data relating to, for example, legal compliancy and building condition. The system provides information for a number of key issues including refurbishment programmes, funding decisions, space allocation and as a measure of the University’s performance.

Change in Use of Space

Any change in the use of space should be reported to the Property Data Management Officer

Reports from this database are used to provide the EMS return to HESA, this directly affects the University funding for capital projects. The data is also used to complete the TRAC return to HEFCE, this is used in the funding formula and by the research councils.

How to Obtain or Modify Space Information

MICAD IPR is available for departments to use; departments wishing to use the IPR or requiring any information on the space that they occupy should contact the  Property Data Management Officer.
