Securing the banner on the metal frame
Along with many other organisations across the city the University of Leicester fully embraced the #backingtheblues campaign to support the Leicester City Football Club (LCFC) on their way to an historic premier league title. The estates maintenance team were tasked with erecting a banner on the Charles Wilson Building. This involved constructing a frame for the banner to hang from to ensure that it would be secure. Members of the team started constructing the frame on Thursday 28 April 2016 but were hampered by strong winds which prevented them from working at height. Estates craftsmen came in to work on the project over the bank holiday weekend to ensure that the banner was in place before LCFC claimed their historic title.
