About the Project

About the project to build a new George Davies Centre on Regent Road

NewMed1.jpgWhat are we doing?

The University is planning to build a new state of the art academic research and teaching building on land recently acquired from Regent College at the Junction of University and Lancaster Road.   The building, designed by Associated Architects, will comprise of 3 towers (3, 4 and 5 stories) linked by glass-roofed atria, to provide additional social and break out spaces.

Why are we doing it?

To provide a coherent academic space to accommodate existing staff and students.

How much will it cost?

£42million.

How will it affect me?

The ongoing works will be off campus and set back from the road and from Regent College in an enclosed compound; they should not directly affect staff, students or local residents, although at certain times there will be additional traffic on Lancaster Road.  Once completed the building will provide an excellent new facility for the University as a whole.

When will the works take place?

The project works started on 18 November 2013 and are scheduled to be completed in September 2015 in time for the start of the academic year 2015/16.
