A major maintenance project to re-roof the Archaeology & Ancient History Building, the site compound is between the Computer Data Centre and the George Porter Building and will take up the 4 spaces between the buildings.

Works to convert office space to create additional student study space on the 2nd floor of the David Wilson Library.

Reveal.jpgEngineering Building Roof

A major capital project to replace the roof and glazed facade of the workshops area of the Grade II* listed Engineering Building.  For more information on this project please see the Engineering Roof Project Page..

A project to redevelop the former car park into a magnificent multi-use venue with the ability to easily erect marquees and hold a wide variety of events showcasing some of the very best of Leicester.

Rocklands.jpgRefurbishment of Glebe Court and Rocklands House at Beaumont Hall

Over the Summer our teams refurbished the Beaumont Hall accommodation at  Glebe Court and Rocklands House to improve the facilities for our student residents.  The works included new kitchen and shower room facilities and refurbishment and redecoration of the corridors and bedrooms.  Electrical and communications facilities were upgraded to include additional power and data sockets, WiFi and new light fittings.  New heating, plumbing and other facilities were installed whilst the refurbishment was taking place.  The picture shows a new kitchen/living area at Rocklands.

The project started in June 2016 and finished in September 2016.

BennettLTjpg.jpgRefurbishment of Lecture Theatres in Adrian, Astley Clarke, Bennett

During the Summer of 2016, six of the lecture theatres in some of our University main campus buildings were fully refurbished adding new furniture, fittings, carpets and art work and also updating all the AVS equipment.  These refurbishments were part of a rolling programme of summer lecture theatre upgrades to improve our campus facilities.

Centre for MedicineCentre for Medicine

A £42million new build project, designed with sustainability at the forefront with many 'green features':  the largest Passivhaus in the UK, the largest green wall in the UK outside of London, a ground air heat exchange system.  The building also as state of the art medical teaching and research facilities.  To find our more please visit the project page.

SmartitionsMedical Teaching and Examination Facilities at the RKCSB

An University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust funded refurbishment project to at the University of Leicester’s Robert Kilpatrick Clinical Sciences Building, transforming the ground floor and part of the first floor of the building into practical examination and teaching space for the University of Leicester’s Department of Medical Education  was completed on 26 January 2016  The Estates project manager was Jon Clements of our Development Team and the works were carried out by Stepnell.  The project included ‘smartitions’ shown in the picture right which are a unique bespoke system designed by Moss Architecture and manufactured by Hufcor.  The movable smartitions are designed specifically to minimise sound transfer in the "mock" consulting rooms which are used for practical exams.

Attenborough Arts Opening.jpgAttenborough Arts Extension

A project to build a new gallery space and sculpture garden as an extension of the existing Attenborough Arts Centre.  The project was supported by Arts Council England and by donations to the Breaking Barriers Appeal.  The extension was opened by Sir David Attenborough.  The picture shows Sir David with the Architects and the Development Team Project Manager, Jon Clements, far right.  Details of the build project can be found on the Attenborough Arts Gallery Project Page.

AstleyClarke.jpgAstley Clarke Windows

A major maintenance project to replace the windows in the Astley Clarke Building, improving the internal environment, external look and energy efficiency of the building constructed in the early 1950s.

A project to refurbish and update the main reception and staircase in the Fielding Johnson Building.

Victoria Park EntrancePark Entrance

A minor works project to remove the railings and landscape the area adjacent to Victoria Park; adding benches and planters to create a pleasant outdoor space.

Manorcroft Sudy RoomOadby Student Facilities

Refurbishment of some lovely old buildings to create modern funky and functional facilities for students whilst retaining the original features and character of the buildings.  For more information please visit the project page.

Attflues.jpgAttenborough Tower Flues

To install 18 storey high flue pipes on the outside of the Attenborough Tower to enable the boilers in the ground floor plant room to be brought back into use.  This major engineering project won several awards.

A 7.35 acre Estate with several buildings.acquired on 1 May 2013. Three of the buildings, Heron, Kingfisher and Mallard have been refurbished to house the Human Resources, Finance and Estates Teams.  The site has beautiful grounds with a pond, visited by ducks and occasionally a heron and a large car park.  The most recent project was to create a new Postgraduate Teaching Centre, please see the Brookfield page for latest updates on the site.

A facility to house the Advanced Structural Dynamics Evaluation Centre (ASDEC), at the 1.75 million sq. ft. MIRA Technology Park Nuneaton. This was an interesting technical challenge for our teams, vist the ASDEC project page to find out more.

College CourtCollege Court Conference Centre

Transformation of the Grade II listed student accommodation designed by Sir Leslie Martin and Trevor Dannatt into a high class modern residential conferencing facility.  In May 2014 the project won major regional awards (RIBA East Midlands Conservation Project of the Year)  and hattrick of awards at the RICS East Midlands Ceremony, including the Building of the Year award. CVRC at Glenfield.jpgBritish Heart Foundation Cardiovascular Research Centre A new building on the Glenfield Hospital site to the north east of the city.  This was a flagship fundraising project for our alumni team.

Roger Bettles Sports Centre

A sports facility for students and staff at Oadby opened for use in October 2012 and was recently named in honour of Roger Bettles, former Head of Council. The project  won the ProCon award for best large non-residential project.

This new development on the Freemen's Common site just 5 minutes walk from the University provides 281 en-suite student rooms including 21 studio apartments with individual kitchenette and lounge.

PercyGeeExternal.jpgPercy Gee Building

This major refurbishment and extension project has transformed the 1950s Percy Gee Building.  The project has won several national and regional awards.

MATemplorry.gifMichael Atiyah - Space Research Centre

This new £1.4 million building which covers 575 sq.m. of floor space was delivered to the University as 14 modular units that bolted together, the assembly and fitting of these units to create a habitable building took only 8 weeks.

A major refurbishment of 19 University Road to create a new home for the 5* research rated School of Museum Studies.

Completed in April 2008 and Officially opened by Her Majesty the Queen on 4th December 2008, the David Wilson Library is a multi-award winning building
