Your help is required to locate Leicester's dwindling hedgehog population.

Hedgehogs have been in decline in recent years with no real estimate of their populations. The dwindling numbers of hedgehogs is being caused by the destruction of their natural habitats as homeowners pave their gardens and tarmac their drives.

Leicester City Council is now asking for your help to find and locate the hedgehogs of Leicester to help get a better understanding of the local population. At the end of July and beginning of August the summer litter of hoglets will just be getting ready to leave the nest and become independent so there could be lots of hungry youngsters looking for food in your urban garden.
It’s easy to do your part – just log any sightings of hedgehogs on the simple survey and email to hog-watch@leicester.gov.uk.
