City Nature Challenge 2019
160 Cities- 5 Continents- 4 Days- 1 Mission: To record as much wildlife as possible!
Help make Leicester the wildest place on earth and join us from midnight on Friday 26th April to Monday 29th April to record as many species of wildlife as possible! We want documentation of the wildlife you see- this can be photographs or written notes of species with location.
Last year 441,888 recordings were documented across 68 cities globally. This year we want to show how wild Leicester is, the data collected about the region’s wildlife and green spaces will contribute to useful research and help to make informed decisions about this dynamic city.
The University of Leicester has partnered with Leicester City Council, Nature Spot, the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trusts and The Conservation Volunteers as well as many other groups across Leicester City to take part in this global competition to record nature. You can join local events, make observations on your own or identify species using the iNaturalist app.
