The MCB Equality and Diversity Committee held a successful Fruit and Veg cake sale on Wednesday.

The cake sale was organised by MCB Equality and Diversity Committee, with other staff in the department bringing delicious cakes with a fruit or vegetable ingredient and at least 1 fairtrade ingredient.

Cakes were paid for by donation and a fantastic £134.74 was raised.

Along with funds raised on the 5th June, this brings the grand total up to £235 for The Real Junk Food Project Leicester, who are turning food waste into meals for the community. Based at the West End Neighbourhood Centre in Westcotes, the volunteer-led café offers the meals on a pay as you feel basis, whether by donation or offering time or skills to the project.

The funds raised will be vital to the continuation of the project and the brilliant work they do combatting food waste and food poverty in our city.
