The APPLES programme stands for Applied Learning in Sustainability, and due to its success is launching for another year. Since its inception by the Environment Team, the programme has provided numerous employability benefits to Leicester students, as well as invaluable volunteering opportunities that improve the sustainability of the university and throughout Leicester.

As a result of its unprecedented success, APPLES has been Highly Commended for the Green Gown Awards 2016, in the enterprise and employability category. To find out what APPLES involves, and what it has achieved, watch our video below.

This year The Environment Team has also introduced a new volunteering programme – the Community Outreach Programme. During this programme students will learn about the importance of community social responsibility and actively help the local community, by planning projects with young people. Like the SDP, the COP is HEAR accredited and can be completed alongside the Leicester Award.
