Why volunteer?

Volunteering can help make the most of your time at university and be rewarding as you give your time to conservational activities within the University and around Leicester. You learn new skills and apply yourself to worthwhile projects, campaigns and activities relating to the Global Goals - from environmental issues to social issues.

As the Goals cover a huge range of issues that need to be tackled in order to build a better future, you will be given a wide scope to make a difference in the areas you’re passionate about. We want to tackle each and every goal, so if you have an idea about how you’d like to make a difference, we’re here to help you achieve that! To find out more about the Goals, go to https://www.globalgoals.org/

Where to sign up?

  • Sign up to the Plan-it Change (our student group) and keep up-to-date with what's going on via Facebook. Alternatively, email socialimpact@le.ac.uk to ask about any upcoming events or activities you can get involved in!

How to record?

It is essential that you record your volunteering hours to ensure you receive recognition. If you reach 25 hours in one academic year, you receive the Higher Education Achievement Report which goes on your degree certificate. The deadline each year to complete hours is usually the beginning of May.

Can I do the Leicester Award?

Yes, sign up for our Sustainable Development Programme and the Leicester Award and complete both in one year. Please note, you can also do our Sustainable Development Programme without the Leicester Award.
