Research in Action Student Conference

Research in Action is our annual student sustainability conference which runs at the end of the academic year to celebrate the achievements you have had throughout the year.

This is an opportunity for all students to showcase their sustainable development work after a long year of hard work. This can include academic or non-academic work and is open to individuals or groups/societies. We want students of all years and all departments to be involved in spreading the awareness of the UN Sustainable Development Goals!

The best part of the conference is listening to what students have gotten up to over the academic year in our TED-Talk style showcase. Project submission for these student TED talks is now open for our 2020 conference.

Previous Year

Conference 2019Last year our conference theme was "Putting Knowledge into Practice". We had student presentations (TED talk style) about a range of topics from In-vitro meat and single use plastic to community agriculture. There was also a workshop on ‘Sustainable Actions or Headline Reactions’ where students looked at the issues and misperceptions around palm oil, veganism, fast fashion and immigration and local students from the school climate strikes joined us for a discussion over lunch. Our Keynote speaker was from Extinction Rebellion who organised peaceful climate action that led to the UK declaring a climate emergency and talked about how we can create a sustainable society for everyone.
