3. Gender Reassignment

Gender Reassignment is another way of describing transition, i.e. changing names, dressing differently and living in your self-identified gender. It does not have to involve medical supervision as not all trans people wish to medically transition. Gender reassignment is a protected characteristic by the Equality Act 2010.

Although the law protects all those in the UK that propose to undergo, are undergoing or have undergone gender reassignment, the University will go above and beyond what legislation recognises as everyone deserves dignity and respect regardless of their trans status or gender identity, including non-binary or pangender identities. See our Our Commitment to Trans Equality

4. Marriage & Civil Partnership

The University strives to provide a supportive environment for staff who are seeking to balance responsibilities within their personal and working lives. This link provides information on a range of policies which aim to support a positive work-life balance:

    7. Religion or Belief (including lack of belief)

Within the University there is a free standing Group, The Worlds Faiths Advisory Group that meets at least once per term and at which issues of faith and inter-faith relations are discussed. There are representatives from all the major faiths of the world. From the evidence of this Group inter-faith relations within the University appear to be strong and the group works hard to develop inter-faith understanding. The Group is supported through the University Chaplaincy, an information resource for world faiths.
