Helen Lucas retires after 24 splendid years at The English Association

Helen Lucas, Chief Executive

Helen Lucas retires today after 24 years as Chief Executive of The English Association. Helen has been instrumental in moving the Association forward during this time and we are all indebted to her for her contribution. She will be writing in the latest Newsletter about some of the highlights of her career.

These include:

- The creation of the Fellowship and Special Interest Groups

- Establishing the Chartered Teacher of English designation

- The award of the Royal Charter

- Creating and developing the Association website, as well as embracing social media.

- Setting up the Common English Forum

Helen has been an inspiration to all who have worked with her and we thank her for her hard work, dedication and good humour. Helen has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship so we look forward to welcoming her to future Association events and the AGM.

Helen, we wish you all the very best for a happy retirement! You deserve it and you will be hugely missed.
