Paying your membership fees via the self-service portal

We’re excited to announce a new, easier way of renewing your membership via our new secure self-service portal! The portal is quick and easy to use, and allows you to pay by credit or debit card as you would in any other online shop.

How do I pay via the self-service portal?

Please note, you must have an email address registered with the EA in order to access the self-service portal. If you don't have an email address registered with us, please email engassoc@leicester.ac.uk confirming which email address you would like adding to your record. Once you've received confirmation from the EA that this has been updated, please follow the instructions below.

In the interests of protecting your personal data, please ensure you are using an up-to-date browser or you may not be able to pay via the self-service portal. Unfortunately, we cannot support Internet Explorer but we support most other browsers.

Logging into the portal for the first time

1. Visit the self-service portal

2. You are already a member of the English Association with an email account registered with us, so click 'Already have an account? Click here to log in'

3. Enter the email address you have registered with the EA - it will be the email address where you received your renewal communication.

Please note, the email address will need to be the specific address you have registered with the EA in the exact same format. If you're not sure about the email address you have registered, please let us know by emailing engassoc@leicester.ac.uk with your membership reference (this will be in the renewals email)and we will confirm your address.

4. The following message will appear:

5. Click ‘Okay, create my account’.

6. You will be prompted to check your email where you will have received an email from the English Association titled "Reset your password", which will contain a 6 digit code. If this code has not arrived, please check your junk mail folders and allow up to 24 hours for this code to come through.

7. Enter this code where prompted.

8. You will then be prompted to enter a password for your account. Please make this something memorable but unique, and you can make your password stronger by including a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols.

9. Once you've entered your password, click 'Set password'.

You will now be registered and can manage your details and membership from within this area each time you log in!

Paying your membership fees

1. Scroll down the page to the 'Your memberships' section. In this section, you will find details of the membership plan(s) you hold with the EA.

2. Find the plan you want to pay your fees for. Any actions will be highlighted, such as whether you need to renew, pay your fees for the first time, or if your membership has lapsed.

3. Click on the action button (e.g. if your plan is due for renewal, there will be a button labelled 'Click to renew')

4. You will be taken to a new screen containing your details. Scroll down the page and you will come to details of the plan you've selected to renew, along with a 'View payment options' button. Click this button.

5. Select 'Pay via Stripe' to pay via credit / debit card, or 'Add a mandate' to pay your fees via direct debit going forward

6. Follow the on screen instructions to make payment.
