How do I pay for my membership fees?

New members

If you are a new member, please complete the relevant application form for the membership package you would like to take up, and you'll be prompted to pay as part of this process.

Renewing a current membership

When renewing a membership, please ensure you quote your name and your membership reference (or the name and membership reference of the organisation you are making payment for) at the time of making payment.

We ask that you include this information so that we know who the payment is for and so we can renew your membership - if you don't quote these details, we may not be able to match the payment to your account, and so your membership may not be renewed.

Credit / debit card

We’re excited to announce a new, easier way of making payment via our new secure self-service portal! The portal is quick and easy to use, and allows you to pay by credit or debit card as you would in any other online shop. Details of how to use the portal are available on our website.

Direct Debit

We’re excited to announce you can also set up a direct debit via the EA's new secure self-service portal! The portal is quick and easy to use, and allows you to set up a direct debit to pay your membership renewal fees automatically each year. Details of how to use the portal are available on our website.

Please make payment using our PayPal.Me shop and follow the next steps:

  • Enter the total due when prompted and confirm the currency is correct.
  • You will then need to log in to PayPal or set up an account to complete the payment.
  • Once logged in, in the Notes field, please confirm your name / the name of the organisation you're making payment for and the membership reference
  • Then follow the onscreen instructions to complete payment.

Cheque

Please note, the English Association team are working remotely and so cannot currently access our offices, therefore please avoid sending any mail, including cheques, to our address at the University of Leicester. Instead, please make cheques payable to 'The English Association' and return to:
