English language tests for entry onto the Presessional Programme

To get a Tier 4 Visa, you must have an English language test result which is recognised by United Kingdom Visas and Immigration (UKVI). The two accepted tests are IELTS and Trinity College London ISE.

Language tests for Tier 4 Visa

You may be aware of the recent changes to the UKVI rules affecting Tier 4 visas for pre-sessional courses. Please read the information below carefully.

  • If you are booking an IELTS test for entry onto a presessional course, you must book an IELTS Academic for UKVI test
  • If you are booking a Trinity College London ISE test for entry onto a presessional course, you must book an ISE Tier 4 (Student) test

The table shows the minimum scores required in each language area to obtain a Tier 4 Visa.

You must have the minimum scores shown in the table above for each language area (speaking, listening, reading, writing). You must also have an overall score as shown in the table below:

Entry levels for students who want to study Law

The entry levels for Law are higher than for other departments.

Integrated offers
