Full-time English Study

The Presessional Programme is for students who want to start an undergraduate or postgraduate course at university, but first need to improve their level of English.

20 January 2021 update:

The ELTU will be delivering all Term 3 modules, beginning on 12th April, in Online mode only.

In the summer term, starting on 5th July, we are currently planning on offering a classroom-based course as well as Online mode.

From IELTS 4.0 to IELTS 6.0 with minimum IELTS 4.0 in all skills.

Entry levels

From IELTS 4.5 to IELTS 6.0

Visa

No visa required for online study (study at home)
6 - 40 weeks of study, depending on your entry level. Various start dates throughout the year, with university entry in September or January.

Duration

6 - 30 weeks of study depending on your entry level. Start dates in April, July and August 2021, with university entry in September 2021 or January 2022.

Students who successfully complete the presessional programme can start their undergraduate or postgraduate programme at the University of Leicester without having to take an IELTS test.
