Module aims

Words & meaning

  • Build up your knowledge of both academic and everyday vocabulary
  • Develop your ability to guess the meanings of words and phrases
  • Develop your ability to use vocabulary appropriately in both speaking and writing
  • Introduce you to a range of learning resources and show you how to use them effectively (dictionaries, books, concordances, the Internet, the Academic Word List)
  • Help you recognise when and how your mother tongue can, and cannot, help you

Who is this module for?

  • This module is open to all Erasmus and Study Abroad students for university credits.
  • Students are expected to have an advanced level of English: CEFR C1

Assessment

  • Coursework assignments, including group work
  • Written tests
