Module aims

  • to provide an overview of the sound system of English
  • to explore the segmental and suprasegmental features of English pronunciation
  • to use phonemic transcription as an aid to learning
  • to use metalanguage associated with phonology as an aid to analysis
  • to compare and contrast features of pronunciation in English with your first language


Who is this module for?

  • This module is open to all Erasmus and Study Abroad students for university credits.
  • Students are expected to have an advanced level of English: CEFR C1
  • This course is intended for students with little or no previous knowledge of phonemics.
