Sports Centres
Delegates are able to use either of the University's sports centres - one at Oadby and one on the main campus - free of charge*. Our sports centres underwent a significant refurbishment in 2013; our gyms are equipped with some of the best and latest equipment available, and we also have a swimming pool on both sites.
*Includes gym and pool only for bookings on full 24 hour package
Botanic Garden
The University's Botanic Garden is located in Oadby, close to Beaumont Hall. The Botanic Garden is open to the public seasonally and can be the perfect way to unwind after a long day at a conference. In the summer months, we open our 'Cafe in the Garden' at Southmeades House, which sits within the Botanic Garden.
Local attractions
The University of Leicester was incredibly proud to discover the remains of Richard III and it is a discovery which has helped to put the University - and Leicester in general - on the map. You can visit the site where we found him, and from Spring 2014 there will be a visitor centre next to Leicester Cathedral. Bosworth Battlefield, where he died in combat, is also close by.
The National Space Centre is just a short distance from the city centre, and Leicester also boasts a number of other interesting museums.
Further afield, Leicestershire is home to some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain, with a number of excellent walks close to the city. Leicester is also famous for its multicultural community, and enjoys a vibrant culinary and nightlife scene.
