Food policy

Leicester Conferences takes every step to be responsible in its approach to purchasing and preparing food.

Where possible, we source our products locally, in order to support the local economy and reduce environmental impacts. We are part of the City of Leicester's Food and Drink Charter which sets out the City's vision for a thriving and sustainable food economy.

We take every step to ensure that animal welfare standards are adhered to for any animal produce purchased. We only purchase fish accredited by the Marine Stewardship Council and raw meat, dairy and vegetables that have Red Tractor assurance.  We are also Fairtrade accredited and have an active Fairtrade focus group within the University.

We are committed to providing varied, balanced diets for anyone with specific dietary requirements. We are proud to be the first university in the UK to be accredited by Coeliac UK. We also cater for other dietary requirements such as dairy-free or vegan. Key catering staff have completed allergen training.

In addition as part of our commitment to the environment we have introduced electric vehicles for catering deliveries, housekeeping and refuse removal around site.
