I have a few ideas

A Few IdeasIf you’ve got some ideas about what’s next, that’s a great start! We can help you test your ideas and make a plan to get you there. If you’re considering a few different options, we can help you narrow down your choices and identify exciting opportunities in your area of interest.

Explore the sectors you’re considering

Once you’ve got a feel for where you’d like to go next, you’ll need to find out what’s involved to help you make an informed choice.

Start by researching the industries and jobs that interest you. Prospects Job Match can help you work out which job groupings appeal to you most; from there you can look in more detail at specific job roles. You can also read about job sectors and browse job profiles for information on different industries and advice on how to get into the sector.

You’ll want to make sure that you don’t miss out on any of the options available to you – our employability timeline can help you plan what you’ll need to consider and when.

Talk to professionals in your area of interest

Hundreds of employers come to campus to showcase their companies every year, giving you access to a wealth of industry insight, knowledge and expertise. Whether you attend a workshop or an online webinar, you’ll get an insight into the company as well as top tips to help you through the application process.

What’s more, if you’re in your final year, you can access the support and advice of an industry-leading professional through our Professional Mentoring Programme.

The programme is available to all final year students and runs until August 2020, giving you the opportunity to expand your professional network and gain first-hand insights into your chosen career path.

For more information, and to sign up to the programme, email Professional Mentoring Programme Project Coordinator, Molly Juckes (molly.juckes@leicester.ac.uk). You will be asked to watch a preparation video and complete an accompanying worksheet prior to gaining a Mentor.
