Transferable Skills

The Transferable Skills Framework was shared at the Employability Summit July 2012. This framework was updated in October 2015 following further industry benchmarking.  Here is the current version of the Transferable Skills Framework.

The Career Development Service have been challenging students to think about their skills development in the extra-curricular sphere (see our 'Gain Experience' student page).

It is critical however that transferable skills are developed through the teaching and assessment in the Curriculum.  In partnership with the Leicester Learning Institute (LLI), we are exploring different approaches to transferable skill development in the Curriculum.  To support this we have developed a checklist for academic staff which appends the transferable skills framework above.  The Learning and Teaching conference 2015, led by the LLI, collated and shared case studies illustrating examples of practice across the University of developing skills through the Curriculum.
