Marking and Assessment

Advice on marking and assessing the work of dyslexic students

Marking and assessment decisions are the responsibility of individual departments. However, the AccessAbility Centre is very happy to give advice on general and individual issues that arise in connection with assessment of student work.  Please contact us for further information.

The Dyslexia Guidelines for Tutors and Markers gives more detailed advice on working with students with dyslexia.

A number of students do not realise that they are dyslexic until they get to university. As the marker of a student's work, you may be the only person who is aware that they are experiencing problems. It is very important, therefore, that your feedback indicates to the student your concerns in such a way that they will seek further help. See Spotting Signs of Dyslexia for further information.
