Disability Legislation

What you need to know about the legislative context of supporting students with disabilties

A crucial piece of legislation with which higher education institutions need to comply is the Equality Act (2010). This act defines disability and makes an HE institution's anticipatory duty clear.  The act also states the need to make reasonable adjustments for disabled students.

If staff have any queries about the implementation of the Equality Act in relation to disabled students at the University, they should contact the AccessAbility Centre on 0116 252 5002.
