Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Forum

Through partnership, innovation and the sharing of information the Forum aims to contribute to the advancement of a higher educational curriculum and informal learning opportunities that will integrate learning for sustainability into professional, academic and personal practice.

ESD is an important part of the Curriculum Transformation process. The Sustainability Task and Finish group is able to support programmes to identify and incorporate sustainability into their curricular. See here for more resources and to access that support.

The ESD Group is based upon the idea that the development of sustainable development curricula and innovative learning and teaching practices are essential components in the discovery of solutions to global challenges and a necessary reform for preparing our students as members of a global community.

The Group reports to the Sustainability Steering Group and is overseen by Professor Jon Scott, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience).

The purpose of the Forum is to:

  • develop internal and external networking opportunities including hosting conferences and workshops;
  • provide help, support and/or collaboration for projects and to share information;
  • discuss mechanisms for the integration of ESD into CPD and a variety of other learning initiatives for staff and students;
  • bring together teaching initiatives and activities to give sustainability education at Leicester a visible presence.

The ESD Forum welcomes anyone interested in finding out more or who would like to contribute to its activities, contact us esd@le.ac.uk
