How to spot a predatory publisher

This course is for PhD students and researchers who are interested in publishing their academic research in authoritative publishing venues. Predatory publishers are a growing phenomenon in the world of academic publishing. This session will demonstrate how predatory publishers perpetuate bad research as well as exploiting the Open Access publishing model. By the end of this session you will: Have an understanding of what is a ‘predatory publisher’ Learn about why predatory publishers are a problem Be aware of the factors that can be used to assess an individual publisher Explored examples of predatory publishers
