Historian Prashant Kidambi’s new book narrates the story of the first ‘All India’ cricket team that toured Great Britain and Ireland in the coronation summer of 1911. The book explores how the idea of India took shape on the cricket field.
Cricket Country raises important questions about the role of sport in shaping our ideas about belonging, ethnicity, race and national identity. Dr Kidambi is joined in this DICE/Leicestershire County Cricket club event by an expert panel to discuss the meaning of international sport in today’s complex and diverse societies.
