Dr June McCombie, School of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham, will consider how astrochemists explore a chemically controlled cosmos using the tools of a chemist and an astronomer and she will talk about the personal journey of one astrochemist into this field of work.
Dr McCombie was awarded an MBE for her work on the Institute of Physics' Widening Participation/Diversity programme and particularly for her chairmanship of the Juno project from 2008 - 2012. She studied for her PhD at the Department of Chemistry at Bristol University. She then spent three years at the Laboratoire Photphysique Moleculaire in Orsay, France this was followed by a three year period at Princeton University. In 1989 she joined Nottingham University where her research interests are in the area of observational and laboratory spectroscopic research
in astrophysical chemistry and she works closely with the Astrophysical Chemistry Group.
