On Sunday the 24th February and Sunday 3rd March (10am–4pm on both days) the University of Leicester Botanic Garden will be holding a special opening in aid of a local charity to show off the wonderful display of crocuses and other spring flowers. The event is hosted by the Friends of the Botanic Garden, who will be providing light refreshments in the historic Knoll house.
This year’s chosen charity is the Royal British Legion and it is hoped that many members of the public will come to support this most worthwhile cause.
On Sunday 3rd March there will be an added attraction in the Knoll. The University of Leicester School of Education will be presenting their School Maths Exhibition, in which primary-aged children have the opportunity to try fun maths activities with 5,000 salt-dough starfish made by local schools.
The Botanic Garden is situated on the south side of Leicester opposite the racecourse. Entrance is from Glebe Rd (LE2 2LD) immediately before the racecourse roundabout.
The garden is one of the finest in the East Midlands and in previous years this event has attracted the attention of local and national press and television.
