The LL&PS and Leicester Museum and Art Gallery Joint Lecture will be given by Professor John MacKenzie. This talk is in support of the current exhibition, 'Splendours of the Subcontinent: A Prince's Tour of India' by permission of the Royal Collection Trust.

John MacKenzie who was brought up in Scotland and Zambia and completed his PhD in Vancouver and London, is Emeritus Professor of Imperial History at Lancaster University and founder of Manchester University Press 'Studies in Imperialism' series (1984). His cosmopolitan upbringing developed his interest in the history of the British Empire about which he has written several books. He has also written about Scottish migration and the development of museums around the world.
