Meiosis is a key diversity generating process in plants, animals and fungi.

- During meiosis chromosomes can crossover, which creates new genetic combinations.

- Recombination is concentrated in narrow hotspots, that influence diversity and evolution.

- I will present our work looking at the influence of DNA sequence and chromatin in controlling hotspots in plant genomes
