London Fieldworks is a partnership formed by artists Bruce Gilchrist and Jo Joelson to enable creative research and collaboration at the art, science and technology intersection. Their projects are informed by complex relationships between social, natural and technological worlds. They create artworks, performative architectures, films, publications, exploring our engagement with environment and our relationship to matter through the capture and translation of data.

In this talk as part of the International Year of Light, artist Jo Joelson will introduce projects that interface art with science and use the medium of light. These will include Polaria, a virtual daylight environment created using data collected in northeast Greenland; Little Earth a collaboration with the University of Leicester that resulted in a multichannel film work and The Library of Light, a special collection for the interdisciplinary investigation of light.

The lecture will occur on Wednesday 10 June at 6.30pm in Lecture Theatre A of the Physics & Astronomy Building. For further details or to make a booking please complete the form on the website or telephone 0116 252 3570 during office hours.
