The School of History is holding a free Local History Day on Saturday 13 June, in the Ogden Lewis Seminar Suite at the University of Leicester. This event, which is open to the public, will be of interest to local history societies and community groups interested in carrying out their own research. Registration is from 10am, and the day will conclude at 3.30 pm.

The morning will comprise four talks about investigating a country house, the history of cricket, de-industrialised Leicester and Google’s Field Trip. After lunch (provided), advice will be given on how to apply for funding for your project and how a country-wide survey of 1910 can be used to generate interest in the history of a community. Attendees will also be advised how to access a range of free resources produced by the University of Leicester for local history groups.

Places are limited, and booking is essential. Contact Pam Fisher to book a place. Email: Tel: 0116 252 5722.
