Since 2010, senior colleagues from the University of Leicester have travelled to Kurdistan in order to develop close links with Kurdish universities to strengthen research collaborations. In 2011 it established a joint venture with the University of Kurdistan Hawler to open an English Language Teaching and Testing Centre and a joint research centre in Natural Resources has just been opened with Soran University.

Approximately 100 Kurdish students now study at the University of Leicester, and it is hoped that the relationship with Kurdish institutions will continue to develop. This work-in-progress event is a chance to showcase the work of Kurdish researchers at the University of Leicester, and to connect the Global, Colonial and Postcolonial Research Network with new and emerging Kurdish research. All are welcome, and light refreshments will be provided. Please contact Emma Battell Lowman (ebl5@le.ac.uk) with any inquiries.
