The Dickens on Screen Project are proud to present a free screening of the 2012 BBC adaptation of 'The Mystery of Edwin Drood' - Charles Dickens last novel. Not available on DVD in the UK this is a unique chance to see the BBC adaptation on the big screen.

Charles Dickens' death before completing the novel has truly made 'The Mystery of Edwin Drood' one of his most 'mysterious' and debated novels - with many alternate 'versions' of the missing conclusion being suggested and written over the years. Setting out to write an traditional 'whodunnit' mystery Dickens' sudden death meant generations of readers have been forever left wondering exactly who had 'done it'.

The 2012 version we will be screening is considered by many to be one of the most successful and compelling versions of how the story might have been concluded. The screening will be briefly introduced by Katie Bell from the School of English, who will use her own research into 'The Mystery of Edwin Drood' to highlight the way the reader and viewer has been urged to be obsessed with 'evil' characters - and their redemption - in Dickens' work over the years.

We hope you will join us for this free screening.
