Each year around this time the serried ranks of Crocus tommasinianus burst through the topsoil of the University's Botanic Garden in Oadby and we open the place up for a brace of ‘Crocus Sundays’.

A short walk in the fresh air will take you past borders where you can see colourful Hellebores and Winter Aconites, You might still be able to see some Viburnums, Witch-hazels, and the related Persian Ironwood if they are still in flower. The walk leads to the Alpine House in whose sheltered environment you’ll find a colourful show of flowering bulbs.

Come down to the Botanic Garden this Sunday 9 March and enjoy the display. Entrance is by donation to local charity Leicestershire Alzheimers society.
