On Tuesday 29th October, Professor Maria Wyke of University College London will give the 13th Dorothy Buchan Memorial Lecture entitled 'Virtue and vice, entertainment & uplift: Roman Women in Silent Cinema'. A small reception will follow at 6.30 pm in the foyer of the School of Archaeology and Ancient History.

The Buchan Memorial Fund, administered by the University of Leicester, is an endowment that supports an annual lecture on a classical subject in the areas that particularly interested Dorothy Buchan, as well as a dissertation prize. The School of Archaeology and Ancient History continues to raise money for the Fund. We would now like to develop it further, to enable us to help Ancient History students further through (for example) travel bursaries.
