This is our big annual Friends of the Garden fundraiser, with specialist plant nurseries, arts & crafts stalls, children’s activities, wildlife and ecology stalls, live music and, of course, refreshments!

Attractions this year will include the University Archaeology Dept. with a display about finding Richard III, and the Leicester & Rutland Beekeepers Assoc. will bring their “Bee Tent” for you to safely open hives and watch honeybees at work.

It’s a great social occasion, as well as a welcome source of good plants and gifts. People arrive in large and small groups of families and friends, and find plenty for everyone to do, staying on to enjoy the atmosphere and the garden at its liveliest and loveliest.

This year our special theme is ecology, to mark the centenary of the British Ecological Society. Many of our stallholders will offer activities for all ages around the theme of ecology for you to join in.

In the interest of conservation, we aim to make the day plastic bag free event. We encourage you to bring re-usable bags to carry away your purchases, but in case you can’t do this, a local morsbags group will be on hand to provide bags and show how they make them.
