Professor Paul Boyle gives video interview upon taking office

Today (1 October), the University welcomes Professor Paul Boyle FBA, FRSE as our new President and Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Boyle succeeds Professor Sir Robert Burgess who has retired after 15 years’ distinguished service to the University.

Professor Paul Boyle was former Chief Executive of the Economic and Social Research Council and President of Science Europe.  He was also International Champion of Research Councils UK with responsibility for international strategy on behalf of all seven Research Councils.

He is the ninth institutional head in the University’s 90-year-plus history and its sixth Vice-Chancellor since the award of its Royal Charter in 1957.
