New review to be published to show University business and enterprise activities

The impact and scope of the University’s enterprising work with companies and organisations all over the world is highlighted for the first time in a Review published today.

The new Enterprise Review gives a snapshot of the many different business and enterprise activities going on across the University and shows how Leicester is applying its expertise and research to address real-world problems.

Professor Kevin Schürer (pictured), Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise said: “What is striking about this Review is the sheer variety of enterprise activities the University is involved in and the opportunities available for engaging with external organisations – be it working with small businesses, offering training to improve the prospects of local or international communities or collaborating on a breakthrough medicine.

“With research councils and funding bodies putting increasing emphasis on ‘impact’, the Enterprise and Business Development team (EBD) can help academic staff set up meaningful partnerships with industry to find applications for their research and extend its reach.

“For businesses, access to world-leading academics and the latest technology can help them develop and grow in a low-risk way.”

In the Review, stories and case studies are set out under the University’s ‘global challenges’ showing how Leicester is making an impact in:

·         Fighting ill health and disease

·         Constructing our world

·         Building a safe and just world

·         Strengthening inter-cultural relations and communities, and

·         Understanding change in culture and society.
