Public invited to explore wonders of the woodland on Sunday 14 September 2014

The Attenborough Arboretum is inviting the public to explore and celebrate the wonders of the woodlands - including picking blackberries - right in the heart of the city on Sunday 14 September.

The event will feature a whole range of fun activities, demonstrations and stalls from 11am – 4pm and refreshments will also be available throughout the day.

Leicestershire and Rutland Beekeepers and green woodworkers will be demonstrating their crafts and the Leicestershire Heritage Apple Project will have local apple varieties to sample and learn about. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) will provide information stalls, hands-on wildlife activities for kids and adults alike, as well as offering facts on local wild places and how to give nature a home in your own garden.

Other activities include foraging for autumn foods and storytelling in the woods with the Leicestershire Guild of Storytellers.

Entrance is £3 per adult and children can attend for free. The Arboretum is on Carisbrooke Road just a few streets away from the Botanic Garden. Visit here for more information.
