World league table is the latest to place the University among leading institutions

The University of Leicester has once again been ranked as one of the top 200 universities in the world in a prestigious league table compiled by the Times Higher Education.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, announced today (1 October), place the University of Leicester at 199 in their annual league table. This places the University of Leicester in the top 1% of universities worldwide in this year’s rankings.

It follows the news earlier this month that The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide placed Leicester 20th out of over 120 UK universities. Leicester is ranked as follows in the various league tables:

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings are the world’s most comprehensive and carefully calibrated global rankings, using 13 separate performance indicators to examine a university’s strengths against all of its core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

Thomas Veit, Director of External Relations, said: “We are delighted that Leicester has once again been ranked in the top 200 of Higher Education institutions worldwide, placing us among the top 1% of universities. Leicester is also consistently ranked among the top 20 universities in UK and it is pleasing to see that we continue to be recognised among the country’s leading institutions.

“This year has been a great one for Leicester as we also received the highest honour available in the UK university system- the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education.”
