Accolade celebrates best possible experience for visitors to Leicester

College Court’s string of successes continues with a nomination in the Leicester and Leicestershire Excellence Awards.

The University's conference centre and hotel is in the running for this year’s Hotel of the Year award. The awards celebrate the excellent service that the wide range of local visitor attractions, accommodation providers, restaurants and events offer to ensure visitors to the destination have the best possible experience during their stay.

Steve Crawford, Centre Director, said: "College Court is delighted to have been shortlisted for the Hotel of the Year and Business Tourism categories particularly as we are such a young business and have only recently celebrated our 1st anniversary. I am extremely proud of the new team that has been created to run College Court and the excellent feedback that we receive from our customers.

“Since opening we have successfully brought new business to the city that has previously gone to other cities. The building which is Grade II listed has already won a number of building awards and we are clearly excited to be recognised for the service that we provide. Owned by the University of Leicester our profit stays in the city and supports the University in its role as a leading international university.”

Originally completed in the 1960s by Leslie Martin and Trevor Dannatt, College Hall had lain vacant for over a decade. Associated Architects’ careful restoration and redevelopment of the site, which completed in 2013, has received many accolades, including RIBA and RICS awards.
