The Strawbs frontman returns to Leicester for homecoming gig

Leicester alumnus Dave Cousins to play one-off acoustic set at the University of Leicester on Thursday 27 November

The lead singer of British folk-rock band The Strawbs will be returning to the University of Leicester later this month for an intimate gig and book signing.

Mathematics graduate Dave Cousins, who studied at the University in the 1960s, is set to reignite his music magic at the place where it all began, as he plays hits old and new during the performance on Thursday 27 November at The Scholar Bar from 7pm.

Best known for their hit Part of the Union which reached number two in the UK charts in 1973, The Strawbs had successful tours across Europe, the USA and Canada. The band played at the University twice in the 1970s: on 31 October 1971 and 11 October 1974.

Dave will also be signing copies of his new autobiography Exorcising Ghosts: Strawbs & Other Lives during the evening.

Dave will be playing his homecoming gig at The Scholar Bar, Students’ Union, University of Leicester on Thursday 27 November from 7pm. The event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP to Rosie O’Connor at ro69@le.ac.uk if you wish to attend.
