Free public talk by Ana Botín, Head of Santander UK, to take place at 11am on 29 May in the Council Chamber, Fielding Johnson Building

Ana Botín (pictured), the UK head of international bank Santander, is to be honoured with a framed “Silver Heart Circle” award by the University’s Development and Alumni Relations Office for her bank’s support for student enterprise and education.

The University has a three-year partnership with Santander Universities UK, valued at over £450,000. This philanthropic support directly benefits over 750 students through postgraduate scholarships, travel awards, summer schools for pupils from local schools and an annual lecture in creative writing. Santander also funds 40 three-month internships for students, worth £3000 each, to work with small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Ms Botín will give a free public talk at the University on Thursday 29 May, where she will respond to presentations from a Santander Scholar at the University as well as two interns who have undergone the University’s internship programme with the support of Santander. She will also meet with an SME employer who took on an intern from the University.

The talk starts at 11:00am on Thursday 29 May in the Council Chamber, Fielding Johnson Building, University of Leicester.
