A University graduate and a former contestant of BBC One’s popular baking show, The Great British Bake Off, is returning to the campus this week - Thursday 8 May - to launch a new recipe pack aimed specifically at students.

School of Management alumnus, 26-year-old Ali Imdad from Birmingham, will be demonstrating a number of his student-friendly recipes at the University’s Students’ Union building on Thursday, where he will be officially launching his student recipe pack in partnership with social enterprise charity, Fixers.

The pack features eight recipes, some sweet and some savoury, but all under £5 using simple ingredients, simple utensils and very easy to make in the average student kitchen, according to the star baker who says his love for baking began at university.

As one of 13 contestants on the fourth series of The Great British Bake Off, which aired last summer, Ali impressed the judges with a series of dishes including vanilla latte mini cakes and a chocolate, raspberry and passion fruit engagement cake - and he made it through to the fourth week.

Ali will be returning to the University of Leicester on Thursday 8 May to launch his student recipe pack in the Percy Gee Students’ Union building at 10.30am.
