High Court to announce verdict at 10am on Friday 23 May

The High Court will announce its verdict on the Judicial Review into the reinterment of King Richard III on  Friday 23 May.

A decision is expected to be posted on www.judiciary.gov.uk shortly after 10am.

A press conference is also planned to be held at Leicester Cathedral after the announcement has been made.  There will be live tweeting from the press conference by the University of Leicester’s news team.  You can follow it here: @UoLNewsCentre

The University had pledged in 2012 that, should Richard be discovered, he would be reinterred in Leicester.  The Ministry of Justice granted the University an exhumation licence to proceed.

When the University of Leicester confirmed that its archaeologists had discovered King Richard III, the University announced it would proceed with the reinternment at Leicester Cathedral (pictured).

But the licence was then challenged by a group of pro-Yorkists called the Plantagenet Alliance who stalled the reinterment process leading to Judicial Review. The outcome of that review will be announced on Friday.
