Re-live the story of the last plantagenet king’s final days in Leicester

A free audio tour that tells the story of King Richard III’s life and death in Leicester and Leicestershire is now available.

The tour visits five sites in the city with a strong connection to Richard III in the days leading up to the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. It then continues into the Leicestershire countryside to Bosworth and other locations linked to King Richard’s reign.

Locations featured in the tour include Bow Bridge, Leicester Castle, the site of the Blue Boar Inn, the Newarke, Grey Friars, Bosworth Heritage Centre, Bosworth Ambion Hill, Donnington le Heath Manor House, Kirby Muxloe Castle and Bradgate Park.

The story is told through a number of fictional characters and is free to download onto smartphones and tablet devices via iTunes or by using QR codes on the new King Richard III interpretation panels across the city.

  • The Dig for Richard III was led by the University of Leicester, working with Leicester City Council and in association with the Richard III Society.  The originator of the Search project was Philippa Langley of the Richard III Society.
