University Awards programme with Enterprise Rent-A-Car to offer students valuable insight into the world of work

A new award will provide University students an insight into future careers whilst working alongside a top graduate employer.

The Future Leaders Award was launched by the University in October 2013 in co-operation with leading business Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Part of the University’s Leicester Awards, the development programme will conclude in March 2014.

With a strong focus on leadership, the programme encourages students to develop their employability skills through practical tasks and explore the fields they could work in after graduation.

Internships will also be offered with Enterprise Rent-A-Car throughout 2014 to students involved in the programme.

Project manager Elizabeth Cornish (pictured) from the Career Development Service designed the project working with Bob Athwal, Director of Career Development and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

The award is open to students from all academic disciplines but is specifically aimed at attracting those who have previous leadership experience – something the University encourages and facilitates through part-time work or involvement in a student-run society.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car is a leading international business worth more than $15 billion. It was voted Graduate Employer of the Year by UK students and a panel of experts at the 2013 TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards.
