Organisation led by Leicester PhD student marks International Women’s Day on 8 March

A non-profit organisation led by a Leicester PhD student has announced a series of events to mark International Women's Day (IWD) on 8 March.

Sadiyo Siad, who is studying for a PhD in our Department of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation, is the CEO and founder of the Eva Organization for Women (EOW), which aims to empower, encourage, motivate and support women and their families from all walks of life to have a positive impact on the world in which they live.

They will be celebrating International Women's Day through close collaborations with different sector experts and bilingual community leaders in Leicester and Leicestershire.

On 5 March 2014, EOW representatives will be at the Cort Crescent Community Centre in Braunstone, Leicester, providing help to support women’s aspirations and making ends meet during times of austerity from 10am – 1.30pm

They will also celebrate International Women's Day on the day itself (8 March) at the Highfields Centre where a diverse range of activities, talks and performances will take place from 11.30am - 4pm.

All the events are free to the public.
